James Scouller on The “Engage For Success” Radio Podcast
Posted onJo Dodds and Andy Goram invited me onto their Engage For Success radio podcast a few months back and we recorded it live on 25 November 2024.
About Engage For Success
Engage For Success is more than a podcast — it describes itself as a movement. In its words, it’s “a growing, dynamic, voluntary movement promoting employee engagement as a better way to work that benefits individual employees, teams, and whole organisations, inspiring people and workplaces to thrive.”
You can find a recording of our podcast interview on Apple, Spotify, Blog Talk Radio, Listen Notes, and SoundCloud. It is show #568.
Conversation Content
Andy Goram was the host on the day. We mostly discussed my trilogy, How To Build Winning Teams Again And Again.
These were the seven questions Andy asked:
- You’ve written four books — a definitive book on leadership and then a trilogy on teams. Is there a thread that connects them all?
- When I speak to authors, there’s usually some compulsion to write a book, so what was yours? What problem or problems in leadership and team building were you looking to solve?
- You just mentioned limiting beliefs. Are you suggesting that we don’t pay enough attention to them in developing our leaders?
- So when you think about the things you’ve uncovered, written about and tested, what’s the biggest thing that people think they know about teambuilding that is just not true? And if we pehaps turn that around, what’s the most important thing people don’t know about teambuilding that they really ought to know?
- What do you see as the founding, fundamental key principles of building an effective team?
- Is there anything that teams can practically do, or actions they could take instantly, to be more effective and start to climb what I believe you call the Team Progression Curve more quickly, maybe one simple action?
- If you could go back in time and give your younger self a piece of advice from all your work since, advice that would have benefited your own leadership and teambuilding experiences, what would you say to yourself?
